Last year I shared a Mulled Cider recipe, so this year I thought I’d go with a Mulled Wine recipe, we used this when we had a few friends round before Christmas.
1 bottle of red wine
1 orange (cut in half)
½ tsp whole cloves pushed into orange skin
2 tbsp clear honey
3cm piece of root ginger (chopped)
1 tsp whole allspice
1 cinnamon stick
Slowly heat the wine in a large saucepan and gently simmer for about 10 minutes.
Add the honey, orange with cloves, lemon juice, ginger and spices to the wine, then remove from the heat and let it infuse for at least 20 minutes.
Before serving, reheat gently, then strain into a jug.
